What is the ideal age to potty train your child?
A lot of parents struggle with trying to find the right age to begin the sometimes arduous process of potty training. The truth is, every child is different, and so there can be a pretty big window. f I had to put a number on it, however, I would say the ideal age range is typically between 22 and 28 months.
More important than an exact number, are the signs of readiness that indicate potty training readiness. Is your child wanting to be in the bathroom or showing an overall interest in the toilet (like wanting to sit on it, put things in it, flush, etc.)? Are they able to stay dry for an hour or longer during the day? Are they hiding to have a bowel movement? These are just a few of the many signs that a child is potentially ready to take that next step.
Keep in mind that regardless of whether or not your child is younger than 22 months or older than 28 months, potty training is available and possible, and will empower your child in a way that will bring the entire family happiness and pride. And who doesn't want to ditch the diapers, am I right?
